Leanid E. Zemliakov
Leanid E. Zemliakov is a Doctor of Political Science and holds the position of professor of Political Science Department since 2005.He graduated from History Faculty of BSU in 1962. He took a post-graduate course at the Department of History, Philosophy and Logic at BSU in 1968.
In 2000 he defended doctoral thesis “Public confessional relations in the Republic of Belarus”.
Leanid E. Zemliakov is one of the leading developers of the problems of state-confessional relations. He investigates the human rights issues, Belarusian state ideology and other problems of Political Science.
He has over ten years experience in the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus (the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus).
He participated in the preparation of a number of important laws, the implementation of the expert-analytical work.
During the period from 1990 to 2003 he was directly involved in the preparation of more than 50 kinds of normative legal acts, more than 30 expert opinions on draft laws on public construction.
Leanid E. Zemliakov lectures on The Bases of Ideology of the Belorussian State. His main teaching and research interests focus on questions of political science, social philosophy and state-confessional relations.
He is the author or editor of over 150 publications and has been widely published in national and international journals.
His most significant publications include «Religion and Society» (1996), «Religious Processes in Belarus. Problems of State and Legal Regulation» (2001), «State-confessional Relations in the Republic of Belarus: Training Manual» (2008).
1. Religion and Society / Monograph. In the article religion is examined as a factor of public and state life. The definition of “religious security” in the context of the national security is given. Special character of religious security is revealed.
2. Religious Processes in Belarus. Problems of State and Legal Regulation / Monograph. Religion and its institutes in sociopolitical life of the Belorussian society in the last decade of the XX-th century are considered in the book. A great consideration is given to the problem of a religious situation in the country at the present stage, the data of sociological polls about level and dynamics of religiousness of different levels of population of Belarus are analyzed, inconsistent tendencies in religious sphere are brought to light.
3. State Confessional Relations in the Republic of Belarus: Training Manual. The religion and its institutes in sociopolitical life of the Belorussian society at the end of XX – beginning of the XXI-st century are considered. Great attention is given to consideration of a problem of a religious situation in our country at the present stage, the data of sociological polls on level and dynamics of religiousness of the population of Belarus are analyzed.
