Ian I. FunkLLD, full Professor (of the Department of Financial Law and Legal Regulation of Economic Activity).

Personal information:
Date of birth: I.I. Funk was born in 1967 in Belarus.

Education:
Graduated with honours from the Law Faculty of the BSU in 1991.
In 2002 he was awarded PhD (Candidate of Sciences) in Law for the thesis «Full partnership under the legislation of the Republic of Belarus».
Since 2003 he has been with the BSU first as an Associate Professor, then as Professor.
He was awarded LLD for the thesis «Perfection of legal means of industrial cooperation by intro¬du¬cing a special type of contract».
Apart from teaching at the Law faculty of the BSU, Ian Funk collaborates with the Department of International and European Law of the International Relations Faculty of the BSU, with the Institute for retraining and in-service of judges, procurators, court and departments of justice officials, with the Institute of Management and Business Tech¬no¬lo¬gies of the BSU and the Institute of the Privatization and Management.

Ian Funk serves on numerous boards as:
Chairman of the International Arbitration Court of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

• Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Ukraine (2005 - present),

From 2009 – present – a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus.
Ian Funk is a member of the working group on drafting of the Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus, member of the working group of the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus and the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus for drafting of the Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus, member of the working group on unification of civil legislation of Belarus and Russia, developer of many other drafts of legislative acts regulating economic relations in the Republic of Belarus.
He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal «Law of Industry and Commerce» (from 1998 – present) and of the weekly «Belarusian market». He is deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal «Law of Industry and Commerce» (from 2002 – present).

Courses taught: Legal Regulation of Foreign Economic Activities, Antitrust Legislation.

Research interests: Civil Law, Economic Law, International Private and Commercial Law.
He has authored and co-authored over 830 research papers.

1. Commentary on «Commercial Companies Act» of the Republic of Belarus. Stock Company. In 5 volumes. – Minsk, 2008.
This book is devoted to detailed investigation of legislation of the Republic of Belarus regulating corporations. The study considers formulation, operation and termination of joint stock companies in the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

2. Commentary on «Commercial Companies Act» of the Republic of Belarus. Limited Liability Company. (Additional Liability Company). In 5 volumes. – Minsk, 2008-2009.
This book is devoted to a detailed investigation of legislation of the Republic of Belarus regulating limited liability companies. The study considers formulation, operation and termination of limited liability companies in the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

3. Business Law: Civil law fundamentals of Organizing Business Activity. In 3 volumes. – 2005.
A course of Business Law in 3 volumesis designed for students enrolled in MBA program, which trains Masters of Business Administration according to a classic scheme: persons (commercial organizations) - things (ownership relations) - liabilities (contractual relationship).

This edition comments upon Incoterms 2010 as compared with Incoterms 1990 and Incoterms 2000.

2. Holdings in the Legislation of the Republic of Belarus: Influence of the Founder on Unitary Enterprise, of the Shareholder on Commercial Company. – Minsk, 2011.

This book is a detailed commentary on the law of the Republic of Belarus holdings, and also includes the author's reflections on the impact of the founder (participant) on the activities of legal entity founded by him.
