Sergey A. KalininPhD (Candidate of Sciences) in Law, Vice Dean for Research, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Law faculty of BSU

He was born on November 7, 1974.

He graduated from the Law Faculty of the BSU in 1996.

In 2001 he completed a post-graduate course in Law at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Law faculty of the BSU.

In 2002 he was awarded PhD in Law for the thesis “Problems of reforms of the law system of the Republic of Belarus”.



Since 1996 he has been working at the Law faculty of the BSU.

Since 2008 he has been chairing the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Law faculty of the BSU.

Since 2021 he was appointed Vice Dean for Research

He has received numerous awards from the state in recognition of his professional achievements.

In addition to teaching, he is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board to the National Centre of Law Information of the Republic of Belarus, of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. He’s a member of the Academic Council of the National Centre of Legislation and Law Research of the Republic of Belarus. He is a member of several expert legislation committees.

He lectures on General Theory of Law, Philosophy of Law, Modern Problems of History and Methodology of Jurisprudence.

His research interests lie in modern methodology of law, sources of law, systematization, improvement and transformation of law and legislation, state system transformation, religion and law, law and world perception, Christian political and legal doctrine.

He has authored more than 110 research papers, course-books and training manuals.

This article examines the need to change the approach to addressing the concerns of the Church and religion in the general theory of law, the use of techniques specific to Christianity. The author discusses the role of various social controls, the definition of basic norms of social existence of a single regulator. It is noted that the role of law in regulating social relations is greatly exaggerated, which is associated primarily with the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The author draws attention to the definition of the Church in the Christian tradition, as well as the special role of Christianity in Belarus as a state.

In this article the features of the Western concept of human rights, points to the need to optimize its relationship with the security mechanism of society. The author analyzes the role of legal education in building a social state, modern model of legal education, the problems, including those associated with the policy of "double standards". Reveal the conditions necessary for the formation of stable type of legitimate social active behavior, as well as the results that can be achieved by complying with them.

In the present article defines essence categories of "human rights", identifies the direction of its implementation and inclusion in the legal system of the Republic of Belarus. The category of "human right" is regarded as a way to assess the discrepancies existing state and social system existing in the Society of beliefs, a measure of the law, the vector of the national legal system. Attention is drawn to the possibility of borrowing only informed of the concept of human rights, so it is more typical of common law.
