Environmental and Agrarian Law Department

The Environmental and Agrarian Law Department was established as a separate specialized academic unit within the Belarusian State University in 1991. It is a unique scientific and educational institution, which takes a leading place in its field in Belarus.

The Department Head – Tamara Makarova, Full Professor, Doctor of laws (LLD).

Students of the specialties "Law", "Economic Law", "Political Science" are provided by the Department  with the following fundamental courses:

"Environmental Law";

"Natural Resource Law";

"Agrarian Law";

"Protection of the Population and Objects from Emergency Situations. Radiation Safety".

The Environmental and Agrarian Law Department also provides following courses for the second level of higher education (master's degree program):

"Legal Regulation of Foreign Economic Activity in the Field of Agro-Industrial Production";

"Legal Support for Security on the Territories of Radioactive Contamination";

"International Processes for Ensuring Radiation Safety";

"Disputes in the Field of Natural Resources Use and Environmental Protection".

"Comparative Environmental Law"

"International Environmental Law"

"Legal Support of Food Security"

"Resolution of Land Disputes"

The academic research is conducted by the department on the specialization «Land Law; Natural Resources Law; Agrarian  Law; Environmental Law» – 12.00.06.

The Department staff has three LLD holders and ten PhD holders:

The Department initiated the set-up of the online center Ecolaw (available through the Law Faculty website https://law.bsu.by/) aimed to provide students with expertise in dealing with individual environmental law issues.
