Aleksandr M. Abramovich
LLD in Law, Honoured Professor, Honoured lawyer of the Republic of Belarus.He graduated from the Law Faculty of the BSU in 1973.
In 1977 he completed a post-graduate course in Law at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.
In 1986 he was awarded LLD in Law.
Since 1988 till 2008 he chaired the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Law faculty of BSU.
Since 1991 till 1992 he was a member of the USSR Constitutional Oversight Committee.
Since 1992 till 1996 he held the position of the head of the central election commission of the Republic of Belarus.
Since 1996 till 2004 he was Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
Since 2004 till 2008 he served as Vice-Chairman of the Republic National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
For many years Aleksandr Abramovich was Chairman of the Council for dissertation defense, a member of the Supreme Attestation Committee of the Republic of Belarus. He also chaired the Presidential Pardon Commission, the Belarusian Citizenship Committee to President of the Republic of Belarus. He also chaired the State Committee on elaborating the Code of Laws of the Republic of Belarus
He headed the work on elaborating legal aspects of the Union Treaty between Belarus and Russia in 1996. He supervised work on developing the amendments the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus adopted at the Republican Referendum of 1996.
In recognition of his achievements he has received numerous awards from President of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Justice, Orthodox Church, CIS Economic Court, etc.
He lectured on General Theory of Law.
He has authored more than 100 research papers and training manuals, including 5 individual and several monographs and books.

This monograph is devoted to one of the urgent topics of theoretical and legal issues relating to the analysis of the legal status of a citizen in a transitional period of development of society and state, due to the significance of the role and place of man, his rights, freedoms and responsibilities in the political system.
We conducted research concepts and dynamics of the legal status as a legal form of social action and freedom of the citizen, is being developed internal structure of the legal status of the individual, deals with the problems of rights and duties of man and citizen, to guarantee their implementation, analysis of other pressing issues of this legal category.
Despite the fact that the monograph is written in the late 80s of the twentieth century, it still retains its relevance and importance for the development of Belarusian statehood at this stage. This work has made a significant contribution to the development of national jurisprudence on the rights and freedoms of man and citizen.
This monograph can be useful for further research in the field of personal rights, the improvement of national legislation and practice in the learning process in preparation for studies in the disciplines "General Theory of Law" "Constitutional law", "Human Rights", as well as in the process of research students, undergraduates, graduate law schools, vocational and higher educational institutions of the legal structure.
