Reshetnikov Sergei Vasilyevich was born on July 22, 1949 in the city of Grodno (BSSR).

In 1972 he graduated from the Grodno Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of History.

In 1978 he completed his postgraduate studies at the Department of Scientific Communism of the Belarusian State University.

In 1982 he defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Belarusian State University - Candidate of Philosophical Sciences. From 1982 to 1991 Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science of the Belarusian State University.

In 1994 he defended his doctoral dissertation - Doctor of Political Sciences. Since 1996 Professor of the Department of Political Science. Since 1993, the head of the Department of Political Science, Belarusian State University.

In 2011 he was awarded the Francysk Skorina medal. Since 1997, Chairman of the Council for the defense of doctoral dissertations in political sciences at BSU.

In 2020 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Belarus". Since 2020, professor at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Law, Belarusian State University.Research interests - "Political institutions, processes and technologies", "Political decision-making processes".

Scientific school: prepared 6 doctors of political sciences and 7 candidates of political sciences.

Publications: Published 8 monographs and 100 journal articles and abstracts. 8 editions of the political science textbook edited by S.V. Reshetnikov with the stamp of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
